Owl Family Candle - 100% pure beeswax and hemp candle. Handmade. Custom orders for color and scent available.

$18.00

A family of owls amid the treetops adorns this beeswax candle with hemp wick. Natural beeswax candles have a very subtle, natural scent, which evokes the earthy, yet sweet aroma of honey. This makes them perfect to burn on the dinner table, as they don't overpower food.

Beeswax candles are perfect for burning daily and have several benefits.

Burn time: Made of 100 percent beeswax, each tea light will burn for 8 to 9 hours. Votives are typically 2 inches in diameter and 3 inches tall. Pure beeswax votives have an average burn time of 16 hours. Before relighting a votive, trim the wick to about a 3/8 inch

1) Burn Longer

Solid beeswax candles burn longer than regular paraffin or soy candles. For example, our small votive candles burn about 6-7 hours. Do not place near air vents as the gusts of air can burn them down quicker.

2) Soot Free

Pure, unsecured Beeswax candles burn cleanly and have no added fragrances or colorings.

3) Ambiance

There’s nothing quite like lighting some candles to set the tone of a calm and relaxed atmosphere. Self-care never felt so good!

*Notes:

Beeswax candles scented with natural essential oils will not throw as strong of a scent as artificial fragrance, or soy and paraffin candles. For those with allergies, asthma, or sensitivities this can be a wonderful thing. If you would prefer a strongly scented candle you might prefer candles made from artificial fragrance or soy. I do not recommend the use of paraffin candles that contain petrochemicals for their impact on your health and the environment.

To ensure your candle burns cleanly across the top, burn it one hour for each inch in diameter or until the wax pool extends from edge to edge. For example, burn a 2.5″ pillar at least 2.5 hours, burn a 4″ pillar at least 4 hours. Be sure to trim you wick to 1/4" before each burn. Using a candle snuffer to extinguish your candle to ensure that you don't accidentally blow hot wax everywhere.

The first burn is critical to prevent candle tunneling. Wax has memory, and the first burn tends to set the radius of the melt. If you create a tunnel on the first burn, the next time you light the candle, it will melt the wax in the tunnel first, making it deeper and continuing to leave unmelted wax around the edges. That’s why it’s so important to completely melt the first layer of wax on the first burn before blowing out the candle.

For the first burn, place the candle in a draft-free area to ensure that it will burn evenly. After lighting it, check it every 30 minutes or so to make sure that the first layer of wax has completely melted—the deeper the layer, the better. The amount of time this will take will vary depending on the type of wax and the size of the candle and the wick. As a general rule, it takes about one hour of burn time for each inch of the candle’s diameter. However, this is only a guideline, and you should continue to check on the candle and blow it out only when the first layer of wax has completely melted.

The beauty of imperfections:

Please understand that all items in my store are handmade, and handmade items, by nature, have imperfections. Although I am thorough, there are inconsistencies based on the creative nature, each item will look a little different from the next.
These items have natural and unique imperfections. Each item is studio produced and my process is genuine and full of love and care. Do you remember the handmade items your grandma used to make? My products echo those quaint little handmade differences.
Any item you purchase is one of a kind. There are no two items in our shop that are exactly the same. Even if the fabric, paper, ink or wax is from the same dye lot, the unique patterning of colors will always make each item beautifully different.
